The Wild Fox Roams the Garden

Stitch

A kind friend sent some Hickory nuts for us to experiment with – young human was very keen to get started!

.

.

Tail

She earnestly attached pipe cleaner limbs, yarn hair, a knitted tail and felt ears, then made a little dress and pantaloons!

.

.

Autumn Crocus

The little vixen jumped off the table as soon as she was done, and ran outside!!

.

.

Pears

She is a summer fox girl, so she is glad that young human made removable sleeves!!

.

.

Sleeves

It was actually chilly so she put her sleeves back on…

.

.

Furry Pears

….then she climbed up the Quince tree!

.

.

Tomato

…and tried to see if the tomatoes were ripe yet.

.

.

Peeking

The young human was happy to see her small fox girl having fun frolicking in the garden…

.

.

stitching

…and wanted to make a cosy home for her…

.

.

bedding

…so she sewed some tiny bedding – including mattress, pillow and her very first quilt!

.

.

gift

Little Foxy loved the gift…

.

.

snug

…and snuggled right down in her new den…

.

.

Cosy Den

…and went to sleep among the sweet peas and sunflowers.

    • She did a wonderful job – I operated the hot-melt glue dispenser, but she pointed to where it needed to go…we jointly operated the sewing machine – taking turns to either pedal or steer…she was a whizz-bang ironer…we had so much fun together!

  1. I can see that the young human shares the talents of her older relatives. Thank you for brightening my morning with this story!

  2. Oh my word! I am always delighted with the magic of the Quimper HItties, but this post was simply extraordinary! I am thrilled beyond words by the Young Human’s imagination, and enchanting storytelling, as well as her excellent needleworking and dollmaking skills. Pure joy! Thank you, thank you!

  3. Oh my Goodness!!! Youngest human is a mini you,K. Her little fox girl is adorable and her sewing skills are great. Her wee little bedding is beautiful and love her color choices.

    • It was an absolute delight to see the sustained effort and concentration she employed to get just what she wanted! I offered her some spare bedding just to plop into the punnet, but nope…she had her own plans. I was so happy to help to make it possible, along with the friend who sent us the hickory nuts!!

  4. how absolutely wonderful that the young human is learning design and sewing along with her story telling skills. Of course she has the best teacher any child could hope for.. Love the quilt, her dress design – and the red finger nail polish!

  5. What a beautiful post… yes, sure, another amazing lady coming… as you. Loved so much, Thank you, Love and Hugs to you all, nia

  6. That is so cute!! A hickory nut fox!! Who would have guessed such a thing was possible. I salute the small human’s creativity!! And she is a better quilter than ME!!! Such a fun post.

    • Well I certainly didn’t guess such a thing was possible! The creative spirit just bubbled out and could not be slowed down…it was almost difficult to keep the actual creating happening at the same speed as the ideas! She was very perseverant with making the bedding and completely proud of herself and her wonderful accomplishments!
