pick up four stitches at the side of the heel flap and add them to the heel needle (10 stitches).
then knit the six instep stitches (three stitches on each of two needles);
then pick up four stitches on the other side of the heel flap; continuing with the same needle, knit three stitches and place a marker. This will be the beginning of your rounds. keep knitting on the same needle…it will seem odd because you will end up with 14 stitches on this needle, but trust me, it is easier to keep track this way. keep knitting around to the marker.
