Botanical Garden, Bogota
Exotic Species
We made it to the Botanical Garden today, and enjoyed a lovely couple of hours there, gazing at Colombian plants, walking around, learning about high altitude, jungle, and Caribbean plants. It is a wonderful place, away from the hurry and exhaust of the huge city.
Palms and ferns
The morning light was beautiful, and wherever we went, we saw the loveliness of nature, albeit arranged to fit into the garden plan.
View from the Hill
We climbed an artificial hill that was planted with plants from the Paramo like the ones we saw in Chingaza. Constance and Gracia looked out over the railing, but were too short to see much of a view.
Tree Canopy
Those of us who were slightly taller looked down on the canopy of the trees and bushes below.
Hummingbird
Circling down on the hill trail we encountered this lovely blue-green hummingbird having a drink of water at the top of a little waterfall.
Garden path
A little further down, we walked along a path with giant fuchsias on one side and red bottlebrush plants on the other.

And the girls found the Fuchsia a delightful place to have a tranquil little sit.
Quimper Hittys 
What a lovely, relaxing outing.
It was particularly nice to spend a couple of calm hours there.

Really beautiful flowers and plants, and lots of interesting paths and informative signs…all added to the experience.

Giant Fuchsia , how lovely. One of my favorite plants. So pretty. the Botanical garden looks very serene and beautiful. Since we got a bit of snow last night seeing this tropical wonderland is nice.
We enjoyed all the plants that we saw, but didn’t make it to the tropical greenhouses…maybe we’ll get a chance to return to Colombia and have time to explore more than the highlands!
