Flower Twist
May is the time to look for Rhododendron flowers (aka Hitty hats), but Tipsy says June is time for sunny days and bare toes!
.
.
The Hitty hats are definitely past their best!
.
.
Tipsy helped me to twist off the expended Rhododendron flowers – we twist and pull very carefully, we don’t want break off the leaf buds like the spiky pink one in this picture…
.
.
…or the little fat green flower buds shown here!
.
.
The picked-off flowers are limp and a bit sticky, but Tipsy says they are nice to frolic in before they go to the compost!
.
.

Hi Tipsy, What a grand, barefooted helper you were to get all of those extinguished flowers off and enjoy doing what little ones do-play in them!
A little frolic among the petals is just what Tipsy likes best…we are lucky the weather has been quite pleasant.
Tipsy is a genius at making anything fun! Love her frolicking in the spent blossoms.
