Scrap Happy August Jumping
Young human and I sketched limbs and heads onto scrap wood leftover from some broken wooden blinds…
.
.
…I cut them out with my carving knives, then wood-burned the drawn lines. The young one sanded the edges, painted the pieces, and then drilled holes…
.
.
…and then fastened them all together with strings and paper fasteners…
.
.
…we each made a Jumping Jack…
.
.
…or maybe a Jumping Jill…
.
…but either way they are jumping for joy!

ScrapHappy is a group of bloggers (links below) who post monthly about using up scraps! All genuine scraps are allowed, and any material. Blog posts are published on the 15th of the month, and I love to see what people are doing with bits and pieces saved from the scrap heaps! If you think you’d like to join the group, contact Kate or Gun who devised and run it – their blogs are the first two links below:

I had one of those as a child! What a brilliant scrappy project
It was so fun to make! My young human was really amused!
Wow! Do you have overwhelming satisfaction oozing out of your pores when creating with young human ? What grand times you must have together. What a joy to have such times together with a grandchild…richness beyond words.
The satisfaction is definitely there – I just love watching my young human go home with a creation and a smile on her face!
delightful and oh so creative! Enjoyed seeing the process.
It was delightful! We enjoyed the creation process – and I was glad to use up a few of the oh-so-useful wooden blind slats!
One happy face on that doll!
Dolls and humans both were smiling at the end of this project!
Very lovely recycling of old blinds!
Thanks! I use the slats for weaving as warp spacers, but there are a lot of them!
What a happy project to share.
We were happy working together, happy with the results and always happy to share with you!
They’re fantastic!
Thanks! They do make us jump for joy!
