Scrap Happy Stitched Book Pages
I am working on an Ann Wood One Hundred day stitched book project. The idea is to make 20 pages, working for 15 minutes a day, and for a total of five days per page. There are no other rules or themes and no expectations except what we decide to do for ourselves. All the fabrics used in my book are scraps, and I am using a cooky cutter silhouette on each page…
.
.
…page one – a crimped circle, which I use for making mince pies.
.
.
Page two, a five-pointed star.
.
.
Page three – my favourite heart shape!
.
.
Page four – a little dove.
.
.
Page five – a cat…
.
.
…I forgot to mention that the sewing threads are all thrums from someone else’s weaving stash – untangled, sometimes with a lot of snarling!
.
.
Page six – of course there is going to be a teapot!
.
.
Everyone has their favourite page so far!

ScrapHappy is a group of bloggers (links below) who post monthly about using up scraps! All genuine scraps are allowed, and any material. Blog posts are published on the 15th of the month – I really love to see what people are doing with bits and pieces saved from the scrap heaps! If you think you’d like to join the group, contact Kate who devised it with a Swedish friend – her blog is the first link below:

What a lovely idea to use cookie cutters as a theme! They look to be vintage ones too. Your post reminded me that I have a box of cutters from my Mum which must date from the 40’s and 550’s – I remember her using them when I was small. I don’t use them now but keep them for my grandchildren to have when they have children.
Some of the cutters are old – from my grandmother, others are old that I have picked up in Charity shops – I have bought very few new ones, but like the teapot and the cat, are among my favourites.
I hope your grandchildren will love the ones you have saved for them!
I like your method of using shapes!
The silhouette idea came to me while I was pondering the whole project – I think the cooky cutters are what made me decide to start at all! And it’s been fun for me!
This is so delightful! and I LOVE your cookie cutters! The bird and teapot are especially adorable! Did you do the point lace on the heart page? It’s wonderful ❤ Well, the whole book is!
I love the bird too, it was one of my grandmother’s cutters – the tea pot is new but so perfect for me, the Hittys just wish there was a small one. The lace came from my sister-in-law in France – isn’t it lovely!?
Wonderful idea, love your pages. I have a bag of very old cookie cutters – some of my mother’s. If you run out before the hundred days you are welcome to have a look.
It’s been fun so far, finding my favourite new and old cooky cutters. They have a second level of meaning for me when I look at the pages and plan for the next one! I’d love to look at your old cooky cutters one of these days, thanks! Wish the weather would settle down a bit!
So lovely
Thank you so much!
Wonderful use of scraps in those stitched pages!
Thanks! It’s nice to have decided on this project – I am liking the way it contains the bits and pieces of fabric and textile art I couldn’t bring myself to just get rid of.
“Ann Wood” I love her art as much as yours too. You made great pieces, and I loved them all. Thank you dear Hitty Lady, Love, nia
Thank you so much nia, the stitched book is a nice way to show some scraps of things that are precious and beautiful and small! Ann Wood is so generous and full of ideas!
Beautiful pages! Love the cats admiring their pesonal page!!
Thanks! We are finding it a fun project, and the Hittys and cats are looking forward to more pages and the finished book!
