A Miss Pinch Pelisse II
Coleman’s Collector’s Book of Doll’s Clothes is an invaluable resource for authentic doll clothes patterns…fortunately Constance has access to this book through the Museum Library. On page 158 she finds a Harper’s Bazaar illustration from 1871, which shows a doll wearing a “visiting dress”. Look at that jacket! It so very similar to the “Hitty” book illustration – She is even wearing a little hat!
A section at the back of the book has numerous patterns copied from actual old doll clothes patterns. Constance thinks the Dolly’s Dressmaker 1862 pattern is just about the right shape and size….
.
.
The pattern is carefully traced onto tissue paper.
.
Clearly the pattern needs adjustment under the arms, and also at the front neckline…more Hitty Dressmaking coming soon.

This is the second post about making the “Miss Pinch Pelisse”… click here to see all the posts about the Pelisse.

These Quimper Hittys are so resourceful at researching things. It is going to be very interesting to see how this garment shapes up!
A bit like making the Othello cake, it is best to make it a little bit at a time!
Oh, boy! Can’t wait to see how the outfit turns out. I know it will be fabulous!! Constance really has an eye for fashion.
Constance is the grateful recipient of all the clothes that come her way.
The seamstresses are SO much more patient than I ever could be. I know the ladies will look lovely once their frocks are finished.
Constance is a very encouraging and patient Hitty. She does not complain about the distractions that make fine sewing in this household take so long.
It looks like you have it right. Great job!! Robin Campbell
I am going to give it a good try!
I cannot wait to see what comes of this adventure! What a fabulous reference book you’ve found that forms the perfect fabric for the rest of this series!
I love our library! and am very grateful to the friend who gave me the fabric and lured me into making this attempt!
I think we missed these posts – Constance is so creative. That pattern is pretty – Sigh – Wish I could sew –
I enjoy the challenge of sewing for Hitty-sized people, and they are very uncomplaining.
