Mungo and The Bard
Some of the Quimper Hittys have decided to celebrate Rabbie Burns Day….wherein  Scots and people who admire them celebrate the poetry of The Bard  Robert Burns (1759 – 1796).
.
Inspired by yesterday’s poetry and treats, Rose declaims the Ode to the Haggis.
.
.
Lacking an actual Haggis, the human stumbled upon the very unique Mackie’s of Scotland Haggis-flavoured potato Crisps just in time to celebrate Burn’s Day.  They are certainly the Great Chieftan o’ the Potato-crisp-race, and any Hitty friends reading this in the UK may want to click on the link and enter their contest for a year’s supply of Mackie’s of Scotland crisps, delivered monthly (they do other flavours as well as Haggis)
.
.
Other Scottish treats are also eaten…
.
.
Mungo attempts to interest Hattie in learning to play the pipes.

Mungo has had an excellent Burn’s Day!

Is Mungo your new boy? He is fabulous and very handsome and Scottish looking indeed 😉 Sounds like they are getting all geared up for their evening of Robert Burns celebrations.
He is my new boy, and he is busy charming everyone with his personality!
Wonderful…and Mungo is a very handsome lad indeed.
Thank you – I think Mungo will be fun to have around!
I love the evil grin at the contemplation of eating – nay, playing, the pipes and also the distant look of long-suffering on Hattie’s face :-))) Excellent!!! I do love Mungo’s smile (and Hattie’s expression). Enjoy your haggis crisps !!!!
Mungo and Hattie have a lot in common, but she does not love the idea of playing the bagpipes, and doesn’t want to hurt Mungo’s feelings on his first day in the Hitty Cupboard!.
He’s a lucky lad to have such a forbearing Hitty Hattie to ease his settling. I do think she is rather beautiful too 🙂 That’s a haunting expression of womanly forbearance, me thinks!
He’s a good looking guy! I love the costumes, too! But that Haggis bag of chips……….. Don’t think I could take that. So interesting as usual! laura

I had to make a kilt for Mungo – what else could he wear for his debut?
What a handsome young man, and what a fun holiday!
Thanks very much – we certainly think Mungo is the bee’s knees!
Mungo’s outfit is wonderful, even if he has no unders (although I would never look to see if that is really true!)
He is agitating for a Bonnie Prince Charlie Jacket – but I don’t know if I can find silver buttons small enough!
oh goodness the tiny pleats on his kilt and that lovely Sporran. You are quite gifted! Mungo is a total
delight and I love the bag pipes!! INspired!!!! Thank you for making my evening!
Mungo exists because I found that little bagpipe! Because of them I had to try and make a boy doll, and he had to wear a kilt, and the rest is history! I am glad you enjoyed the blog today, I certainly have fun with the Quimper Hittys, and I think they will have fun with Mungo!
Mungo is surely a handsome addition to the Quimper family…. If he were here in Virginia right now he’d be freezing his bum. It’s way too cold for bare legs and sparse underwear! The Brown’s house Hittys are very taken with him… but, Dallas… is looking at the Mackie potato crisps and wondering what is Haggis..
Dear me, I hope it warms up in Virginia soon…Mungo is staying right here for a while, but he’d love to visit the Brown’s house Hittys some day. He says to tell Dallas that Haggis is offal, but Haggis-flavoured crisps are spicy and delicious.
Hope Mungo succeeds in teaching Hattie how to play the pipes. Mungo’s kilt is so Scottish and wish we could get our hands on some of those Mackie potato crisps. Great pictures !!
The Quimper Hitty’s cat is hoping Mungo will practice the bagpipes far far away, and that Hattie will play something involving string!
Love this post! Haggis crisps – who knew? Love new Mungo – named after my favourite Scot of West African Exploration fame? We’re doing late Burns this weekend making a real haggis but wrapped in Phyllo rather than a sheep’s stomach.
It was pretty exciting finding the Haggis crisps. We didn’t go for the Aberdeen Angus-flavoured ones! Enjoy the Phyllo-Haggis…Mungo will play a tune in it’s honour.
