Muttart Conservatory visit
On the recommendation of a Quimper Hitty follower, Tansy and her host went on an expedition to the Muttart Conservatory on one of their last free weekends in Edmonton. It was a few weeks ago now, and you can see that there were still heaps of snow outside! Hopefully snow on the ground is just a memory now, but Tansy’s host declared that if she lived in town, she would get a season pass and spent all her early mornings at the Conservatory in the winter.
.
.
There were three pyramids: Arid; Temperate; and Tropical…Tansy really enjoyed the lush tropical paradise, but divested herself of her coat as soon as she could…
.
.
…. and enjoyed finding some fetching orange Tropical Torch Flowers that matched her day dress…
.
.
… she also admired the feature exhibit, Going Dutch.
.
.
After going through each exhibit three times, they found it was too difficult to choose which they enjoyed the best. They concluded that perhaps the best part was feeling as though they had travelled to different world zones in just minutes. It was definitely nice travelling without struggling in slush and snow…Tansy enjoyed a stroll through the beautiful desert,
.
.
…and had a little sit in the glorious warmth…pondering on all the very fun plant names, and beautiful smells and colours in the Conservatory.
.
.
Soon enough it was time to leave, but Tansy and her host were refreshed and ready to return to winter slush, snow – and coats!

What a terrific place for a winter day. Tansy sure is having an exciting time.
Tansy agrees that if she lived in Edmonton, she would visit the Conservatory frequently!
The Muttart Conservatory is one of my most favorite places ever- so glad that Tansy was able to visit!
I think Tansy and her host were very happy for the recommendation!
What a wonderful place to visit and how special for Tansy that she got to do so and experience the different climates in each pyramid. Lovely that she enjoyed herself so.
She did have a lovely time – really grateful for the recommendation – doesn’t she look joyful to have thrown off her coat for a while!
wish we had something similar here, I’d volunteer for weeding duty. lovely escape for the snow.
I agree – we may not have snow, but dark windy wet winter storms are hard to get through too!
I love botanical gardens and this conservatory looks just wonderful. So lovely of Tansy to share the sights and smells with us. In her orange day dress Tansy was a blossom amongst the plantings.
A-w-w-w…Tansy is blushing now – her cheeks are as bright as a Tropical Torch!
