Carving in Oregon
Constance and her human, and two other carvers and their Hittys went to Oregon last week. We attended a carving retreat hosted by TC Vollum. The result of four days, many woodchips and a few blisters, was a new Hitty carved by each of us, except for the participant who carved bodies and limbs for two resin shoulderheads. The shoulderhead dolls unfortunately had to leave for home before these three girls were ready for the “end of retreat” portrait.
In intervals between chipping and sanding, there were several opportunities to visit the nearby beach. Various Hittys took full advantage…here they are studying the sea anemones…

…being mesmerised by the waterfall…

…and having fun lurking in the sandstone caves…
.
.
They found a Hitty-sized hollow inside a log…
.
And agreed that the wonders and riches of life are infinite…

Brand new and hopeful, the three new girls are on their way to their new homes!

Those three new girls are spectacular as are the wonderful beach photos, what a lovely weekend you had!
We did have a wonderful time, and I am lucky to have such a nice new doll to join the Quimper Hitty gang!
I feel very placid after all the work you put into these lovely, lovely dolls. Thanks for such beautiful scenery and a glimpse of the beautiful creations.
It sure helps to have a kind and helpful teacher and a beautiful setting, not to mention a few uninterrupted days to carve!
Your new girls are exquisite! Welcome to the world Little Hittys! And they were born in a most wonderful and beautiful place!
Just the girl on the left in the bottom picture is mine – the others were carved by one of the other carvers (on the right) and our host, tc (the middle girl)…but thank you for my part…it was wonderful fun!
I love the different personalities of each one that are reflected in their faces. I think that is important when carving dolls. Wish we could have bumped into each other. The ocean is only an hour and a half away from me. It’s so beautiful! laura
I wish I had had time to visit you! It was a lot of driving though. It is beautiful there!
Oh such wonderful photos…the girls are all so cute. I also love how each face has such personality. And of course a glimpse of Constance in her shawl was a delight. The adventures on the shore made me smile. Riches indeed!!
It was fun! We really really enjoyed the trip, and a new little doll is such an extra bonus!
I too feel placid. You made THREE dolls? wow!
No, Just one! The other two were made by other people at the carving retreat.
These are all totally charming dolls! And the photos are excellent. What a great post.
🙂
Lovely!
Gracias!
