Tansy is off again
Tansy has gone off to spend some time working on Quadra Island. She is based on the East side in a bunkhouse, but will be roaming around other parts of the island during the day…I expect we will get occasional updates, and we’ll let you know what she gets up to.
The first day was spent bushwhacking in the central part of the Island at quite a high altitude looking at limestone caves and the general topography trying to understand what it might have been like at older sea levels at the beginning of the Holocene about 11 to 12 thousand years ago.

While it was a slog, for most of the time it was beautiful – and there were berries! Tansy of course had a great time, picked a lot of huckleberries,
and sat around on some nice soft lichen when she wasn’t riding around in the camera case.

She finished up the day back in the bunkhouse, communing with the wooden window surrounds and listening to the Douglas Fir talk to each other outside.

Education comes in all forms. Life in a camera bag, on lichens, amongst the huckleberries, that is a learning journey for Tansy at the moment.
The Quimper Hittys are always delighted to learn more about edible berries especially! I heard rumours about a pie!
Have never seen a real huckleberry….I love Tansy’s jeans and jacket. Very appropriate for a working girl.
great photos. We hope she has a great time on her adventure.
The jeans and vest are “borrowed” from a commercial doll, and the little plaid shirt used to be a little plaid handkerchief! Tansy likes to blend in wherever she is – in this case with lots of guys wearing fieldwork clothing, trampling around in the underbrush. Huckleberries are Delicious!
