Fibrations 2014
Hooray for the 2014 Fibrations Festival at the St Ann’s Academy Orchard, where luscious piles of everything wooly and wonderful abounded, like the glorious yarns from Humming Bee Farm….
.
…and this pair of lovely felted slippers (Constance thought it was perhaps a new take on the Hitty sleeping bag?)…
.
…..Constance befriended this brother and sister, but they did not come home with us…
.
.
One of our favourite fabric shops had big bins of fat quarters for $1.99! We bought the red print above Constance’s head, as we thought it might do for a summer Kimono.
.
.
We were awestruck by the bobbin lace made by Barbara Birke.
Our only regret is that we did not get another exquisite tea towel by Barbara’s friend Karen Lengyeltoti. But we consoled ourselves with the fact that we had a wonderful afternoon; met many friends, relations and kindred spirits; and remembered that we actually have a pretty fine tea towel warp on our loom at the moment!
Thank you to the Knotty by Nature Fibre Store for another delightful midsummer Fibre Festival!

My goodness but you and Constance showed a lot of restraint! How you could go to such a place and come away only with a single fat quarter I just can’t imagine.
There were many temptations! Also many distractions…I think it was more a matter of indecision than actual restraint!
I agree with ehpem! It looks like it was simply heavenly!
It was! A lovely day and a lot of fun!
It was a feast for the heart and eyes!
So many marvellous things to see and admire, and we met with many old friends, including the lady who gave me her Leclerc Loom about 15 years ago!
oh the colors!!! What a great way to spend a day. Glad to see Constance enjoyed herself and I am sure her person had a grand time also. We have seen bobbin lace being made also and like you…..sheer amazement and awe!!
We totally enjoyed the day! Constance is always enraptured by fibre extravaganzas.
Looks like Constance had a great time. She would want to own everything if she could. She is so good with sewing items.
It was a lovely afternoon – fortunately Constance and her human have learned to enjoy just being surrounded by everything wonderful and beautiful without having to carry everything home!
