Tansy Travels East -2
Tansy tagged along on several shopping expeditions with her Travelling Companion, but only appears in some of the following pictures. They were both somewhat nervous about having Tansy hopping out of the pocket to pose for photos. Still, they did enjoy wandering about the open air Ladies market, and marvelled at the quantity and variety of neon!
They found that window shopping in the Hong Kong restaurant district was very interesting and occasionally mouth-watering!
.
.
Mountains of fresh veggies in one market…
…and buckets of seafood in another…
.
.
…they found a Finnish institution in a very unlikely place!
.
.
No Hitty-sized prints were on offer in the Hong Kong Marimekko, so Tansy only posed next to the bolts of cloth!
Tansy was fascinated by the in-store shrines she observed,
And was very impressed by the elegance of the classically dressed and perfectly coiffed Chinese ladies. Fortunately for her, one of the Mandarin phrases she practised before leaving home was:
[这位女士会清单/埋单] (zhèiwèi nǔshì huì qīngdān/máidān)
…(English translation: This lady will pay for everything)….

What a handy Mandarin phrase. Might it work in Victoria’s Chinatown too or perhaps she will need to learn the Cantonese equivalent as well?
Tansy is a great traveller and no wonder since she is such good company on a trip.
She may try out that phrase in Victoria’s Chinatown, but I may feign deafness…she is good company!
Thanks Tansy for letting us see Hong Kong through your eyes! you are quite the accomplished little traveler!
You are welcome! We love to do armchair travelling while Tansy gallivants about having far-off adventures.
Wow, thanks for sharing Hong Kong with us. Quite interesting, and looks like you are enjoying your time there……blessings
Tansy has been having a great time! We are so glad that her travelling companion brought a camera!
Perhaps The Quimper Hittys should publish a phrase-book in numerous languages featuring that particular phrase. Hittys DO love travel and never seem to come home empty-handed. (Though my pocket-book does…)
The Quimper Hittys think that is a brilliant idea!
It won’t be long before all the Quimper Hittys learn Tansy’s phrase in many languages, just in case they find themselves on the next trip to an exotic spot!
I wonder! They may well try….
Heh heh. A very handy phrase to know. I am jealous of Tansy’s travels!
So am I if truth be told, though she doesn’t gloat about it thank goodness.
very funny!! Tansy is such an experienced world traveler and obviously a dab hand at the acquiring of accessories. Great pics of an exotic place. we travel vicariously thru the Quimper Hittys.
I do too! Tansy is a very lucky doll!
marvelous adventures, Tansy is a lucky girl, and a clever linguist. love her handbag. also a very clever human to write with Chinese characters, wish my computer could do that.
Tansy is very, very lucky! All the Quimper Hittys try to be accommodating in the places they visit, and remember that they are the guest! It may be that the new computer made by Tansy’s little friend in Kowloon was a positive linguistic influence!
