Opal and Agathe deal with apples
Opal and Agathe stacked up apples from the back yard tree…
…and supervised the washing, coring, peeling and chopping.
While the human got ready to cook down the apples, the twins observed that piles of peels lead to clouds of Fruit Flies!
It’s only fair to warn the flies…
.
.
…about our infallible trap, (a jar with the bait at the bottom of the jar, and a paper cone taped to the rim with a small hole at the bottom of the cone).
Finally the twins got to the part they like best – quality control testing the applesauce!

Fruit fly folly finds fulfilling finish for famished friends.
Amiable amigas ate autumnal applesauce in alarmingly awesome amounts!
You make up such great responses!
Your applesauce looks delicious. Makes me hanker for pork loin, mashed yams and greens to go with it. YUM! Those pesky little fruit fly critters are so annoying. I thought it was “so Hitty like” to warn them beforehand of their demise if they entered their cone of death trap. Hittys are so considerate.
Even Hittys draw the line at fruit flies, though it wouldn’t be autumn without them!
Oh, dear! Huzzah to Becky for the perfect reply to a very funny post!
The girls hope the fruit flies ignore their warning, so the applesauce won’t get that tangy flavour of fruit fly vinegar!
Yum!
We think so!
apples! one of the best things about fall. We are about to make a batch of apple butter in the crock pot/slow cooker.
Your applesauce is just lovely…as are the every delightful Agathe and Opal. the fruit fly trap is very clever!
We think it is one of the best things about fall too! We lost half our apple tree in a storm last November, and are enjoying every apple in case it is the last crop!
