World Quaker Day
The first Sunday in October is World Quaker Day…
In the book Hitty – Her First Hundred Years, Hitty spend several years in the family of Clarissa Pryce, a Quaker girl in Philadelphia
Mary Ann comes from Pendle Hill, a Quaker Study, Retreat and Conference Centre, where a group of Hitty enthusiasts gathered in 2012. Mary Ann hopes for peace and justice in the world, and since she believes that even the smallest action can help, she does her best by being a calm Friend and a moderating influence in the Hitty Cupboard.

Amen to that!
We appreciate Mary Ann’s still small voice amongst the sometime-cacophony of the Hitty cupboard.
Yes! The world needs more calm and gentle energy!
We think so too, in my town and in yours…what we can, we do.
One of my favorite hymns is the Quaker hymn…Tis the gift to be simple tis the gift to be free…. Mary Ann could be singing that hymn in her calm and peaceable manner.
I thin it might be Shaker, but I love it too, and so does Mary Ann.
