Scrap Happy Crazy September
I have been organizing little kits…
.
.
…consisting of silk fabric scraps…
.
.
…every bag gets one of each of these.
.
.
I prepared silk thread from a bag of thrums (loom waste)…
.
.
…by detangling and ironing…
.
…everyone gets a card with multiple colours!
.
.
I am going to a gathering next month, with other people who are fond of small wooden dolls. I’ll show them how to make tiny crazy-quilted things…
.
.
…these are samples for people to look at, simple and small, they will become a tea cosy, a winter hood and a footstool cover…
.
.
…Mormor’s favourite is the tea cosy!
.
.
ScrapHappy is a group of bloggers (links below) who post monthly about using up scraps! All genuine scraps are allowed, and any material. Blog posts are published on the 15th of the month, and I love to see what people are doing with bits and pieces saved from the scrap heaps! If you think you’d like to join the group, contact Kate or Gun who devised and run it – their blogs are the first two links below:

Ah, looks like it will be great fun! I’ll bet all will have a grand time making these little lovely items for Hitty.
I think it will be fun! And the Hittys always enjoy a little extra attention!
Your kits look delightful! Lovely materials and so much attention to detail. I really like Mormor’s tea cozy!
Mormor likes the tea cosy too – I will have to make another one for her as this one is going off to the Hitty gathering!
such delicate needlecraft!
Thanks! We like the small scale, and tried to pick simple patterns that could be made with a few pretty scraps!
oh
🙂
Oh, how lovely! They will love those! Have a wonderful time 🙂
I think it should be fun for everybody – just a few stitches to tack down the fabric, and a few embroidery stitches to make it pretty!
Wonderful! Not only will you be creating beauty, you will be giving the Hittys of the world something pretty to adorn their lives, and also spreading the ScrapHappy word.
Long live scraps, and scrappy fun!
😊
Sorry for my first comment. Still not able to leave comments on some blogs on my desktop. iPad does work. I love your colorful bags of workshop materials, great idea. I hope you will show us some of the small stitchings.
I will try and take photos! I think making these will be fun, and not too complicated!
So tiny blocks and beautiful fabrics. The tea cozy is perfect!
Thank you…I hope to introduce people to the fun of tiny patchwork…and Mormor definitely prefers warm tea!
I just love your tiny creations! And good luck with the workshop, Those kits are gorgeous
Thanks very much! Patchwork is fun and the embroidery takes it to the next level! I think the patterns are simple enough for everyone to be happy with their results, and using good materials makes all the difference!
What a beautiful Scrap-Happy-Crazy project, fascinated me as always, Thank you, Love, nia
Thank you, nia, I love to spread the happiness!
Those are wonderful kits you are putting together with beautiful scraps to make small pretty crafts! Enjoyed the photos of the doll about to enjoy her tea!
Thanks so much – Mormor and I agree about the necessity of a tea cosy to maintain the temperature in a pot of tea! I have used an old towel in a pinch, but a pretty tea cosy is the best!
Looking forward to this !! i have very lilttle experience with silk and am looking forward to learning. I love embroidery so this will be great fun. and those colors!! Sumptuous.
I am looking forward to the workshop too! For the kits I tried to choose colours that would go together – luckily I had beautiful silk scraps in a good variety and mixture of colours. Not everyone will get the exact same kit, but they should all be pretty close!
Oh wonderful 😍
Thanks!! I shall have fun with the project – hope to get some nice photos.
Can’t wait to try this project. More importantly, I am so looking forward to meeting you at last.
Me too, me too!
