Warped
Constance is working on some overshot with me…
.
.
…we are using a friend’s loom. My friend wound the linen warp for us, but we have done the rest (with her help and encouragement: tied it to the back beam and wound it on; threaded the 200 + ends into the heddles into the harnesses; and then through the reed at 4 ends per dent; changed the treadling tie-up; and tied the warp to the front beam. Lots of work and visits to my friend’s basement, but soon we will be able to start the weaving! I only have the one photo because I keep forgetting to bring Constance and my camera…but I promise an update when we start throwing shuttles!

I don’t have a loom but from blogs and videos I now realise how much work there is to weaving before the fun bit starts!
The prep time to get the loom ready reminds me of my husband’s former work-house painter-he’d say that 95% of the work is prepration and then, the finale when you get to paint the top coat. Your weaving work always shows marvelous outcomes so it’s evident that the earlier work had been done well. Enjoy the time together with Constance. I’ll look forward to your upcoming pieces of artistry!
My word, what a labour. I hope you’ll be able to start sometime in 2025!
So much work and skill. Weaving is such an intricate endeavor. I salute you!!!
