Scrap Happy January
I have been working on a bit of this and a bit of that…using some Liberty fabric scraps to make a Hitty dress and pair of britches as a trade for a friend in Arkansas…
.
.
…and using some very pretty but very scrappy old yarn (lots of breaks needing knitting in)…
.
.
…I am using a pattern from a knitting book published in MDCCCXLVII (the Lady’s Book of useful and ornamental knitting and netting Work)…
.
.
…and lastly, weaving some overshot using old linen for the warp and binding weft. I am not sure it counts as scraps, but it is leftovers. The overshot weft is new however, it might be the age of the warp threads or perhaps uneven tension, but one of the warps broke which Constance here is helping me to repair….
.
.
…I have made one red and one blue so far!

ScrapHappy is a group of bloggers (links below) who post monthly about using up scraps! All genuine scraps are allowed, and any material. Blog posts are published on the 15th of the month, and I love to see what people are doing with bits and pieces saved from the scrap heaps! If you think you’d like to join the group, contact Kate or Gun who devised and run it – their blogs are the first two links below:

I treasure seeing your 15th of the month posting on Scrap Happy time. Looks like many scraps, leftovers are being used in most artistic ways. Thanks once again for the inspiration!
I really enjoy finding things to make using scraps and leftovers…using things up is so satisfying!
That knitting pattern really is white noise!! The terminology has altered beyond recognition – so interesting to see an old one, thank you
You are welcome! The pattern is pretty strange to our eyes! I especially like the part where it says to pearl a row betwixt every pattern row – it makes me feel very Victorian!
it is wonderful that Constance is such a help with the weaving, looking good. Great close-up of the knitting, too bad about the breaks on the yarn.
The yarn breaks are a little annoying, but then it gives me the chance to practice the Victorian method of adding in a yarn in knitting!
That is a lot of scrappiness Kjerstin! It is a good job you have the Hittys to help!
The Hittys are very helpful!
The Hittys are always so well dressed!
The Hittys like new clothes as much as humans! and I like sewing and knitting for them – their outfits use up lots of scraps (though they don’t reduce the scrap volume all that much!)
I so enjoy seeing the Hittys and their outfits and accessories (and pets!)
As moderator of ScrapHappy: We will agree that leftovers count as scraps, and that one does sometimes need to insert new materials into a scrappy project in order to finish them as a useful or complete object. We just don’t buy new materials in order to start a ScrapHappy project.
Phew! I have lots of fun using and incorporating scraps and leftovers – and I really Love Scrap Happy day and all the variations and ideas people create with them!
Goodness what a roll call of projects, all lovely!!! Such talent and energy is inspiring. thank you.
so impressive!! you are an inspiration!!
