A March in the Woods

Walk

Lucky Coriander was “Hitty-in-my-pocket” today…

.

.

paths

…so she got to hike along the wooded trails…

.

.

.

Fern

…and have a friendly chat with a fern frond…

.

.

.

knot

…and a gnarly conversation with a fallen tree.

.

.

Roots

She skipped down the path among tree-roots…

.

.

babble

…and listened to the babble of the little stream for a while…

.

.

rock

…and edged along the slippery rock.

.

.

resting

It was a long walk for someone with tiny legs, so Coriander found it very pleasant to rest in a fern clump…

.

.

Tree Bark

…and later on sit in a tree fork for a spell…

.

.

Ride!

…and one of the human friends even gave her a ride in her bucket hat for a while!

.

.

Down the path

Up and down the trails we went…

.

.

Look!

…until we reached the lookout! This view looks East up the Strait of Juan de Fuca.  March in the woods is perfectly glorious!

  1. The light in the forest, the shadows and colours… also your creative miniature world, they are all so beautiful. Thank you dear Hitty Lady, have a nice weekend, Love, nia

    • Thank you nia, it was a very beautiful thing to go walking in the forest, listening to the birds and breathing the fresh air! I am glad I could capture it in the photos a little (except for the birdsong!)

    • We had a beautiful morning! The Hittys love to come along on adventures, though Coriander was wishing for her thermos flask of tea! We did stop at a cafe on the way home for a restorative cuppa! A perfect day!!!!

    • It was so beautiful, we felt revived by the sunlight, the birdsongs (Redwing Blackbirds, Winter Wrens, Nuthatches, Towhees…) the green moss and ferns, babbling streams, and just being there with friends.

  2. What an amazing place to take a walk! I am so glad you brought us along with you as well! Thank you so much for sharing such gorgeous views!

    • There are several beautiful places to walk, quite near to where I live, though I have never been to this particular park before. It was a nice experience – I hope we will go back there again, maybe in a month or so when the wildflowers are blooming!

    • Thank you! I think they do chat amongst themselves. On the way out the door, I hear “pick me – pick me” and one of them ends up in my pocket. Always a fun time is made more delightful with a little wooden friend along.
