More Fun on the Prairies

Birthday fun!

Birthday fun!

February is a busy birthday month in Tansy’s Winnipeg host family, and  Tansy went along to this Birthday Party to help celebrate.  It was requested that everyone wear Red, Pink, or Purple, so Tansy fit right in.

A Lovely Wedding

A Lovely Wedding

She also attended a very lovely wedding – its a rare moment when you can feel true love and happiness, but there was more than a glimpse of it in evidence that night.  Tansy met quite a few new friends that night, and was amused by the amount of line dancing that occurred. Many feet were sore the next day!

Winnipeg Airport

Winnipeg Airport Architecture

Tansy’s host has a short contract in Edmonton so they shipped off the day after the wedding, but not without a lengthy delay at the airport.  Not to worry, since it was Tansy’s first time her host took her on a walk around to look at the neat architectural features…

Winnipeg Airport

Winnipeg Airport – where’s the plane?

…and gaze at the barren runway while they waited.  Once they boarded the plane they looked out the window and recognized a friend loading luggage – he even caught a glimpse of their frantic waving.  That’s Winnipeg for you, a place where you rarely go out without running into someone you know.

Edmonton Farmer's Market

They landed in Edmonton “the City of Champions”, and were soon off on their first adventure, to the Farmer’s Market at Edmonton City Hall.  So far Edmonton (at -25 ish), has been slightly less cold than Winnipeg (which is experiencing it’s coldest winter in about 40 years) and has about half as much snow. How DO they grow vegetables at those temperatures?

Lacrosse!

Lacrosse!

Tansy and her host had another adventure when they were invited to a lacrosse game!  They took the Light Transit Rail to the Rexall Centre, the arena where the Edmonton Oiler’s hockey team also plays, hence the oil rig in the rafters. It was an exciting game to watch, but perhaps lacrosse is not a sport that delicate hittys should play.  The game was between the Edmonton Rush and Toronto Rock, and Edmonton won!

Tansy is grateful to her host for all the fun – whatever will she get up to next?

  1. Goodness! Tansy is becoming quite the world traveler! However will you keep her at home after all this
adventuring? Great pictures…(I am thinking those veggies are imported!!).

    • Tansy is having a great time alright! She is the first of the Quimper Hittys to attend a professional sports game! I fear Constance will never make an opera convert of her!

  2. Fall apples, root vegetables, preserves, and baked goods are generally what you find at a prairie farmers market in winter. We do miss fresh green vegetables, dried peas just aren’t the same.

  3. yep, how you ” gonna keep em down on the farm” when they have seen Edmonton!! or something like that. (grin)
