Kerstin Pillow
I found a knitted cushion cover pattern that had my name on it – literally!!
.
.
So I had to try to make it, using a new to me technique – Intarsia, or laying-in colours instead of carrying them across the back of the work.
.
.
It was a bit of a tangle at first…
.
.
…actually it was a tangle from beginning to end. But that’s the process…
.
.
…it helped to darn in the ends a couple of times part way through the knitting.
.
.
It took quite a while for it to look like anything much, but eventually you could make out the flowers on the front, and not just be distracted by the scramble of long yarn tails on the reverse…
.
.
…and at the end, when all the ends were darned in and snipped off…
.
…and the pillow cover was steamed and blocked…
.
.
…it looked pretty good!
.
.
our Forest Troll took all the thrums for winter nesting material…
.
.
…the cats approve of the pillow top as a warm surface to lie upon…
.
.
…and Vanilla is encouraging the human with beginning the back panel.
.
.

I’m having trouble envisioning the process, but the result is beautiful!
Vanilla’s dress is lovely-did you make it? Love it that she’s encouraging you in the backing. The pillow experience shows great courage that you tackled, the troll and cats exhibit gratefulness. No wonder the QH household is such a pleasant place to dwell in (and hear stories about). Thanks for a sweet narrative on what is a very cloudy, misty, damp day here.
