Winter Gales
The third major winter storm in less than a week is upon us – Heavy dark clouds dumping continuous rain, and days and days of sustained winds up to Gale force in our neighbourhood is not good weather for very small wooden girls to go for an outdoor stroll. So instead, Opal and Agathe visited a seasonal forest in the lobby of the Empress Hotel…
Different businesses decorate a tree, and you can vote on your favourite one, with over 50 trees to choose from. The girls were no use helping to decide – whichever one they were climbing around in was the one they liked best at that moment.
…though Agathe was particularly smitten with the BC Road-Builders…
..and Opal thought the wings on the local Market’s tree looked exactly her size…
They liked the stuff beneath the trees too, alas there were no reindeer to pull the sleigh, and anyway it was full of limes!
…Opal convinced Agathe to take a little swing in the Coho Ferry hammock, which resulted in gales of laughter!
As soon as they got home, they began wheedling for us to put up the Quimper Hitty Christmas Tree. We like to decorate the Hitty tree with orphan earrings, but it doesn’t go up till closer to Christmas, so they have a while to wait.
.

What a lovely outing they had…such fun trees as well. What a good idea decorating the tree with orphan earrings! Must remember that one.
Hope the storms ease for you and the weather improves..
Lots of rain, flooding and storm surges at the moment, as it is the highest tide of the year, but at least the wind has died down…It looks like stormy weather in the UK too at the moment…Hope Rose Cottage is dry!
The Quimper HIttys always know how to delight themselves, and us, even in the face of the fierce winter gales!
The really enjoyed the visit to the temporary forest – a very cheering activity!
A good friend of mine, in my quilting group, Shelly, tats. She made this butterfly that I attached to TC’s Hitty that I carved and swapped. I love Shelly’s tatting, she’s done dragons (my favorite) and traditional, too. Celia C
Tatty would love to see some eccentric tatting!
Oh Good Fun! Constance looks very patient with them. It must be difficult sometimes.
We find it can be wearying to look after such very enthusiastic kids, but fortunately Constance is a good-natured Hitty and the girls never try her too far!
All the trees are wonderful! How did you choose a favorite?
We couldn’t decide, but all agree that the Hitty-sized wings were pretty awesome!
what fun, the trees look great this year. the wings are to fly for. love the orphan earring idea.
Earrings are perfect Hitty Decorations – small, pretty and already have a hook attached!
How fun! (For all!)
It was, and not the least bit grey or wet!
as always the girls are delightful..and so are your photos! Constance is the very soul of patience with these
two imps. I do believe those wings are just perfect for a Hitty. Hope you are not blown about to badly
with the storms.
They certainly are imps – they are saying they want Hitty wings and a Hard Hat too! Another storm tonight…
