Scraphappy: April Lace
Madame Owl and a friend arrived in pieces, two lovely kits made by Jenny Barnett in Anglesey. The kits have everything you need except for needles, thread and scissors. It wasn’t difficult to sew up the body and limbs…instructions were clear – I love the result! Thanks, Jenny!
But this post is not about the kits as they were new, not made by me and not scrappy at all! However…all their clothing is made of scraps including Mme Owl’s fluffy drawers made from an old curtain, with two added rows of Valenciennes Lace …
.
.
…and her feathery, lacy little dress made of scraps from my bulging scraps boxes and drawers.
.
.
I stitched on a little button and a loop…
.
.
…fine feathers make a fine bird!
.
.
Mistress Cat has the same outfit, but I knitted a little cardigan for her…
.
.
…and for Mme Owl…
.
.
…a feather pattern shawl – it is still cool in the mornings, and their bare shoulders were chilly! (Yarns are leftover from the stash that was used in last month’s Scrap Happy blog post).
.
.
Mme Owl caught a mouse…
.
.
Mistress Cat caught another one – they really have a lot in common!
.
.
But…
.
.
…Madame Owl has flown a home to her real barn where she lives among the rafters and catches mice! Mistress cat will stay with me, remembering the good times with her distant friend.
I am very tempted to get another one of Jenny Barnett’s beautiful doll kits…
In case you have the same urge, here is her website: Jenny Barnett

Welcome to the new members of the household there on Quimper Street. Delicate clothing looks very fetching on them.
I was amused by temporarily having an owl and a pussycat dressed the same. They are both such beautiful kits, now that the owl has gone to her new home we have very fond memories.
I’m so sad La Belle Chouette has flown away, she was both majestic and ethereal, and you made a beautiful job of her clothing.
We were sorry to see her go, but she is happy in her new barn! She was a lovely visitor!
wow ! both cat & owl are amazing!
I loved them both too! Mistress Cat is a very delightful friend to the Hitty cupboard!
I am always in awe of your miniature creations. The lace outfits are stunning and the mouse in the bowl made me laugh out loud. What a big one they’ve bagged – it must have been a joint effort to get it home.
Thanks so much, I loved these kits when I found them…especially wanted the owl one to send to a friend, and it amuses us both to have the two in the same clothes, hunting mice together 😛
So sweet! I love Miss Cat, may need to explore that site.
I love her too – it was such fun to dress them!
what a delightful start to my morning, love it all. I’m not letting Abby see those gorgeous lacy gowns. The bowl of mice is impressive. Thank you for the link to Jenny Barnett, I think I’ll give myself the child doll for my birthday – really struggled which one to choose
The two lacy dresses were made from the very last scraps of that knitted lace, or I would make a third one for Abby – but I think she looks pretty cute in her overalls! I loved the child dolls too – aren’t they beautiful?! I’m so happy you are thinking of getting one for yourself!
Wow. Such beautiful lace dresses, and the crocheted items are superb. What a great job, and an imagination. =)
Thanks so much! I loved working on the project, and knitting tiny things is very satisfying for me!
That owl is brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing the site details. And of course your clothing is too.
I saw the owl and knew I had to get her for a friend! The cat was pure indulgence – and a birthday gift from my husband! It was amusing to dress them the same except for the cardigan and shawl.
And because of your post, I’m now following her shop and trying to think of someone suitable 🙂
Madam Owl is now presiding majestically over a rural farm with a large barn….so magical!!!
Hooray for large barns and many mice, and magic! We are so glad to know that Mme Owl is happy in her twice removed new surroundings!
Oh dear, such a lovely pair!
It was lovely having the two of them for a short while, now they have a long-distance friendship!
