Summer Sunshine Quilt
We recently received an envelope of 1 1/2 inch yellow-themed quilting cotton squares. The challenge was to make a Hitty-sized quilt…
Zipporah says you may be feeling too hot today to be thinking of more sunshine and warm Quilts, but in the cold damp dark of a west coast winter this will be a very welcome and warming sight!!

Great use of the squares. All by hand? TEENY TINY squares in the corners! That must have been by hand.
The straight line piecework was all by machine. My rotary cutter and ruled squares make it easy to get the exact sizes and shapes I wanted. the round sun and the quilting is done by hand…it was fun, accurate and quick done like that.
True, it is still extraordinarily hot, but we will always welcome the sight of such a festive quilt. It really is cheerful and will serve the Quimper Hittys well in the gloom of winter.
We so enjoy these mini projects – like a little sprinkle of sunshine into a sometimes complicated rest of the week!
that sunny quilt should brighten the heart and warm the toes of any Hitty all year long.
I was thinking that it might work like that!
What perfection. Lovely! Robin Campbell
Thank you!
Really, really wonderful quilt. It makes me smile to see it!
Me too, actually, and the Quimper Hittys think everyone should have a sunshine Quilt to look at on grey days – that is every one of them!! Too bad I used up the yellow squares!
Ooooooh! Spectacular! Where IS the rain, anyway?? Somebody drank it?

I think you might consider consulting the djinn about the lack of rain – it might be that they prefer weather to have a more north-African flavour…
Your Sunshine quilt is the sunshine. Very clever. Denise
Thanks Denise…We like the way it turned out too!
Absolutely beautiful, next to blue, yellow is my favourite colour and this will be perfect to brighten the Quimper Hittys cupboard and bed in winter.
It is fun to try and find a quilt pattern that suits the surprise packet of colour-themed quilt squares. This design just hit me over the head – I had to make it real!
This is amazing, you incredibly talented woman, you! Love it!
Thank you, I feel like it practically made itself, and I just provided the hands! I do like the end result, and the Hittys are feeling very cheerful about it!
will be just the ticket on a cold dark dreary winter afternoon…curled up beneath rays of sunshine with a hot cuppa and a good book!
Thanks – the girls are looking forward to a sunny snuggle, a hot cuppa and a good book, but not too soon!!
What a wonderful quilt! And if the girls aren’t curled up under it, it could bring sunshine on a dull day by pinning it on a wall!
It could at that!
