Porch Steps
Tansy spotted some tools by the back door…
.
.
…and a pile of wood that used to be the human’s front porch.
.
.
Apparently, the old porch was rotten, so the Hittys favourite photographer was in the process of constructing a new one…
.
.
…including a set of steps which were a little tall for little people…
.
.
…so Tansy volunteered to help rectify the situation.
.
.
She and her favourite work-mate sawed and chiseled 36 steps…
.
.
…and cut and sanded some balusters.
.
.
Tansy helped to put nails into the base of each post…
.
.
…and drill a hole at the top end…
.
.
…and then threaded copper wires through the holes to make handrails.
.
.
She tested the stairs before inviting anyone else up!
But then the entire family arrived! Constance was first up, and Gilly scampered up after her…
.
.
…Min ended up on Constance’s lap…
.
.
…Gilly sat with Gracia, Mary Ann found a safe spot, and the block twins scrambled up behind!
.
.
Siyah thought it was all very curious…
.
.
…and proceeded to photo-bomb the family portrait.
.
.
Everyone was excited about the new stairs, and Tansy was well pleased with her carpentering efforts – but she thought the hardest work of the day was trying to point all her sisters in the same direction!
.
.
I’m considering this the 8th wonder of the world! Good going Tansy and household members! Achievements come in all sizes and shapes.
It is a wonder! The Hittys are very grateful and excited to have their own means of getting to the new deck!
Favorite photographer is more than just favorite photographer…what a great guy!!!!! I am almost lost for words in describing how adorable and sweet and thoughtful favorite photographer was in creating this. This hitty staircase is gorgeous…favorite photographer didn’t skip on anything…details are all there…the Hitty’s look beyond thrilled…they are having the time of their little wooden lives going up and down that fabulous staircase.
He was particularly concerned that they had functional handrails after Tansy pointed out that it is a long way down to the concrete for a small wooden doll!
What a great helper Tansy is. The steps for the girls are wonderful. Also the humans new porch is the best enjoy it for many years.
I believe it will be a lovely place to sit in the afternoon, and admire the view…and it is a lovely large flat space for small dolls to play, and read, and drink tea…
You have all surpassed your brilliant selves with this endeavour! Wondrous. Made me SO happy this morning.
The dolls are all in agreement – it is wondrous, they can hardly wait to explore all the corners of this new space!
Tansy is a great carpenter’s assistant, wonderful Hitty family lineup on the steps. Happy Mother’s day to humans and Hittys.
Tansy is a great helper – so enthusiastic, and not afraid to point out possible improvements! Yay Tansy!!!
Thanks for the good wishes, and we hope you had a lovely day as well!
