Heartsease
A couple of days ago we found a little potted plant on our porch – a sweet gift from our friend up the hill…
.
.
…thank you One Small Stitch, for the sweet violet plant. It will go straight into a shady corner of the garden.
.
.
We already have some wild pansies (the same family of plants, but a little larger)…
.
This flower is known by many different names, but we like the name Heartsease best!
.
.
The little violet plant is eased into the ground, and watered. Viola’s heart is eased by being out in the beautiful spring morning, and by thinking of friendships near and far.
.
.
Heartsease seems to be a name that connotes a balm. Thanks for sharing such a calming narrative today and thanks to your friend up the hill too.
It is, isn’t it? I think the wild pansies were considered medicinal for all sorts of ailments, including sadness.
I like your answer very much. Pansies have always been one of my favorite flowers.
…and the joyful thing about Heartsease is that with a little water and sunshine it will self-seed all over the place. My pleasure to share.
How wonderful to receive a surprise gift and for your Big Person to have a friend who also loves crafts and creativity so nearby. When we first moved in with our Big Person, crafts of any kind were very solitary pursuits for her and, without social media, they still would be.
I just realised! But for social media, we to would only have each other here in Radnor Forest to talk to. It is so nice to be able to see other Hitty ladies around the world😊.
Much love to you all in the wonderful Hitty Cupboard,
Mary Not-Quite-Hitty xxxx
I think it is wonderful to have friends near and far, in the ether and up the hill! Thanks for being a Hitty friend to us too!
❤ ❤ ❤ Thank you so much! Maybe we can make candied violets some day!
my heart is eased by this lovely post.
