Jingle Bells

afterthought

Vanilla worked hard to finish the Mystery stocking on time – here she is getting ready to knit the afterthought heel…

Heel

…decreasing every second row, and then every row until four stitches are left on each needle…

Snip

…snipping the last yarn! What an accomplishment! She threaded this yarn into the last few stitches then wove in the ends…

Jingle Bells

…Ta Da! Our mystery knit-along stocking is done!! We like the pattern of bells, bows and acorns along the top, and all the Norwegian classical patterns throughout! Thanks Arne and Carlos, it was such a fun project, and helped to stave off the November blahs…

Vanilla thinks we might get another stocking finished by Christmas…

  1. Oh Glorious Stocking! What a great job you’ve done on it-so festive, such clear images, so appropriate for the season and yes, a great boon to ward off November blahs! What a fun outcome. I can see why Vanilla’s smile is so broad.

  2. wonderful pattern, Santa is going to love that sock Do you knit the Norwegian/German way or the British way?? Thanks for the link to Arne and Carlos’s blog, their collection of patterns is marvelous – even a patterned bear (I’m not sure I’m a good enough knitter!). Their how to videos are informative and charming.

    • I knit with the yarn held in the left hand, as taught by my Swedish great-Aunt…it has sometimes been an issue as the look of the fancy stitches can change if knitting this way with a pattern designed for other styles of knitting, but I have learned many work-arounds. It is so nice to have found Arne and Carlos and their whole entire set of patterns in English, that fit the methods I was taught!
