Proto-berries!
The spring garden is glowing…
.
.
…Floradora is trying to assess the berry potential, but there are hundreds and hundreds of berry flowers – a healthy crop of Blackcurrants…
.
.
.
…many many strawberries…
.
.
.
…and look!
.
.
This might be the year we have enough gooseberries for jam, and tarts and fool!
.
.
We usually get a good crop of raspberries…
.
.
…especially when our cat (named Blueberry!) is so vigilant at guarding the raspberry patch…
.
.
…what a lot of berries in the garden!
.

Trusting the abundance continues and you’ll be berry happy!
We hope for berry happiness! The warm sun and the bright skies are berry encouraging!
I wondered intially if this was a new variant I hadn’t encountered yet. You have such a bounty to look forward to, and I especially envy you the gooseberries.
I really hope this is the year for gooseberries! Our Black currants seem perfectly happy in the garden, but haven’t seemed to be able to get the gooseberry bushes to produce fruit…hopefully this is theyear!
Fingers crossed! Gooseberry jam, gooseberry fool, gooseberry crumble… 🥰
Your garden is looking very productive. My cats are useless at protecting the soft fruit from birds and I get hardly any gooseberries so I hope you are more fortunate. It is Evie the dog who pinches the strawberries and raspberries!
Goodness! I have neighbours whose chickens like to jump up and grab the low-hanging berries, but this is the first time I have heard of a dog pilfering the garden! I hope this is the year we will be fortunate with the gooseberries!
We had another dog many years ago who took the strawberries in the raised beds. Evie discovered blackberries when I was picking them when we went for a walk. She also developed a taste for raspberries, strawberries, windfall apples, apricots, peaches and grapes. She would climb as high as she could then jump to get a bunch of grapes in her mouth and pull it off as she fell back! I am sure these things are ones she shouldn’t eat but short of keeping her on the lead and away from temptation at all times I can’t stop her so… But shge hasn’t tried gooseberries because the birds beat her to them!
I can almost smell all the lovely baking now!
I really really want to make a gooseberry tart! The number of flowers, and the healthy bushes looks promising!
There is jam in your future! I am sure the little ladies will help you make it!
For sure and certain! Jam, jelly maybe and sauce for desserts and breakfasts….We can’t wait!
