  1. Your garden is looking very productive. My cats are useless at protecting the soft fruit from birds and I get hardly any gooseberries so I hope you are more fortunate. It is Evie the dog who pinches the strawberries and raspberries!

    • Goodness! I have neighbours whose chickens like to jump up and grab the low-hanging berries, but this is the first time I have heard of a dog pilfering the garden! I hope this is the year we will be fortunate with the gooseberries!

      • We had another dog many years ago who took the strawberries in the raised beds. Evie discovered blackberries when I was picking them when we went for a walk. She also developed a taste for raspberries, strawberries, windfall apples, apricots, peaches and grapes. She would climb as high as she could then jump to get a bunch of grapes in her mouth and pull it off as she fell back! I am sure these things are ones she shouldn’t eat but short of keeping her on the lead and away from temptation at all times I can’t stop her so… But shge hasn’t tried gooseberries because the birds beat her to them!
