Berry season is so sweet! It makes everyone happy, even the cat! And we love having frozen berries in store for colder nights that remind us of the sweet season.
ahhh yes berries and cream …with perhaps a bit of shortcake beneath them! The little cat seems quite determined to get a bit of cream. Love the photos. and the bounty.
Ah…Shortcake! The berry fans of this household are now asking Jane to come up with a few recipes – they want to be berry Guinea Pigs!
I love the one giant blackberry in Mormor’s bowl! I have wonderful memories of blackberry season when I lived in Washington State. We had them everywhere including my background (they were like weeds those bushes) and I made so many pies, tarts, puff pastry danishes, cobblers, etc. over the years with my free blackberries 🙂
So delicious, all those free berries! We humans have a freezer full!
The blackberries are just starting to ripen here too so I am planning my first picking expedition for this afternoon.

I made apple and blackberry crumble yesterday using apples bottled last year and have 2 boxes of brambles in freezer ready for bottling or jamming later. I love the idea of food that costs nothing, not even work in the garden!
