Ven

A half hour away by ferry from Landskrona …

Is the lovely little island of Ven.

Where we borrowed bicycles from our B&B hosts (Arianell and Coriander rode in the basket)

We visited lighthouses,

and sat at the 12th century church of St Ibb, looking out at the Øresund towards Denmark.

At the edges of the fields we found so many flowers like these little blue blossoms among the Scarlet Pimpernel…

And picked a tussie mussie of bigger flowers to take back to the B&B.

The girls sat in a wheat field, but combine harvesters were out collecting grain so they didn’t stay long !

We cycled almost all the way around

the island – along shady trails…

…and sunny fields.

We found a waffle wagon in the middle of a field! Rhubarb sauce on crispy waffles, stuffed with vanilla ice cream – oh my!

Our B&B was in an old school house…

…and after a day of experiencing the loveliness, slow pace, and friendliness of Ven it was nice to come back to a clean and quiet corner of the island. We stayed here for two nights, and loved every minute.

We drank cups of tea, visited the museum of Thcho Brahe, an early 17th century astronomer who lived on Ven, and saw a hedgehog one evening at dusk. Ven was wonderful – a quiet peaceful beautiful place.
