Lakrits
My Swedish cousin sent me a Julkalendar; very different from the crafty calendar…
.
.
…a different kind of licorice treat every day! Arianell and Coriander like the Birthday cake licorice, the caramel, the raspberry and the various teas and licorice flavoured candies, but…
.
.
…some treats are somewhat peculiar to my taste…
.
.
…Arianell suggested donating the contents of one window to the cats…
.
.
…they were quite happy to deal with the smoked fish licorice…
.
.
…and Gráinne smoked the Skipper’s pipe!

What a thoughtful cousin! There was something for everyone.
My cousin is very thoughtful, I trust he is enjoying his own Lakrits Julcalendar!
oh what a special Julkalendar – and a very Merry Christmas to everyone. Grainne’s choice looks very interesting.
I usually buy myself a tea calendar but the Pukka teas didn’t make one this year, according to my usual source. The Licorice one was a complete surprise and a very delightful substitute!
that really is quite different…. not a licorice fan but the sheer variety of licorice flavors was rather amazing. The cats seem very interested. and Grainne looks quite piratical smoking that pipe.
Skipper’s pipe was destined for Gráinne! And the rest of the Hittys thought the cats deserved the smoked fish treat!!!
I tried to imagine the taste of smoked fish liquorice but my brain and stomach rebelled! It is a good job the Hittys have cats to enjoy that one.
No-one in the house has dared taste the smoked fish lakrit, I confess! Not even the human cats!
The Swedes love their liquorice 😂
They really do – I ate a lot of it when I was in Sweden last summer, the raspberry liquorice ice cream was memorable!
I can only imagine!
Dear Hitty Lady I can’t make comment, I try again now!
Not to worry nia, when you can is soon enough!
Licorice! Yes the Scandinavian people appear to love their licorice as I learned during part of a summer in Denmark. My Danish friend kept sending me terrifying licorice concoctions for years until I confessed it was not for my palate. Black Licorice is definitely an acquired taste!
