Mary Ann and the Iris
Mary Ann arrived at the Quimper Hitty cupboard via Pendle Hill in Pennsylvania. She is rather shy, and generally prefers to keep to herself, but she receives an annual invitation to visit the garden of a friend when the Iris flowers are in bloom.
Mary Ann admired the frilly-edged cloaks of the mauve ladies, but thought they were a bit too worldly for a modest girl.

…she was polite to the admittedly handsome W.J. Fryers…
…but was most at home with her kindred spirits…
A visit with the Quaker Ladies always fills Mary Ann with a quiet peace!

Lovely!
We thought so! (and Happy Julian of Norwich Day!)
Dear Mary Ann….a beauty among the beauties. I’m glad she took time to enjoy the pretty irises.
I just love watching her enjoy their prettiness, she takes such pleasure in her Friends!
Yes, can’t say it better than Becky.
Thanks – Mary Ann and I are both happy that you enjoyed our walk in the irises.
A visit with sweet Mary Ann fills me with peace…the lovely iris are icing on the cake.
Peaceful Mary Ann is glad the sentiment seems to be shared so widely!
Mary Ann is not guarded at all when these magnificent flowers coax her to come closer.
She is very fond of spending time in gardens, and finds their loveliness and tranquility is very restorative!
