The loom
The Waffle Weave Towel is finished, and we thought we’d show you the giant Glimåkra loom we’ve been using…and you’ll see why Constance stays in my pocket while the loom is in operation.
The Tie-up
These are the strings attaching the pedals to the heddles… different tie ups change the pattern – eight possible combinations on each of ten pedals, lots to get tangled in.

The ratchet wheel
This is one of two wheels used to advance the cloth…the metal brake drops into the ratchet behind Constance’s head when it is wound on far enough.

The End
Here is the last bit of towel. Constance is relieved that we didn’t get too confused with the pattern. Just at her shoulder there is a flaw – drat. I wove 1-2-1-2 instead of 1-2-8-9 but it will be at the edge of the turning for the hem, so not too noticeable.

Quimper Hittys 
I feel dizzied looking at what appears to be multiple complexities of weaving something….but, highly admire your work as well as Constance’s constancy in being an encouragement in your pocket. I do hope someday to try my hand at weaving….a dream for decades now. Thanks for the view of what you’ve been doing.
Weaving is complex when you try and figure everything out at once. If you break it down to one process at a time it is not so bad!
a flaw??!!! Are you kidding…this is a work of art…and science. Constance must be so proud of you.
I myself (and the Country HIttys) are just awe struck….(or as Hetty Hickory would say…”gob smacked”!)
It is the kind of flaw that the maker can’t avoid seeing, but I won’t let it bug me. The towel will dry hands just as well for all that, but I won’t give it as a wedding gift. I have fun weaving, and sometimes find it soothing but not this time, too much concentration. It is probably good for my brain though.
