Catfish
For a treat on the second day of the carving workshop we had dinner at Allison’s Catfish Farm and Restaurant…Constance ordered Catfish and Hush Puppies.
.
They were delicious, the humans all thought so too!
.
The restaurant is located in Friendsville, a town founded by Quakers and once a stop on the Underground Railway. It is open three evenings a week in summer and two in winter, Constance and Raisin were glad that Calamity decided to plan a visit while we were in Tennessee.

Catfish dreams.

One has to admire Constance’s willingness to eat local food when she travels, even that which might be confused with pets, or shoes, back home. I expect that Calamity calmed any fears she may have had in setting out for the restaurant.
I wouldn’t exactly call Calamity a calming influence, actually. But she was exuberant in her promotion of the delectable delights of catfish and hushpuppies!
Oh yum. I may have a few catfish dreams now too! Delish. Happy

and did I mention the blackberry cobbler dessert!?
Oh yes – I’d forgotten (overwhelmed, no doubt, with memories of the catfish and hush puppies), but that dessert was pretty smashing. Let’s all go back there next year. 🙂
Constance continues to have wonderful adventures with her human!!
Never a dull moment when a Hitty is around!
Thanks, Constance and human, for sharing some of your Southern adventures. Different subcultures open our eyes to the diversity that does indeed surround us.
You are welcome! We have fun and love to share it.
Fried catfish, hushpuppies and fixins are standard fare her in MO. Deep fried fish and cornbread…how can
you go wrong? Cute pics, that Constance is our hero!!!
We loved that catfish restaurant! No catfish around here, sadly, but I could make hushpuppies if I could find a good recipe! I wonder if they would taste good with red snapper?
I had to show this to Bruce. He cracked up at the “Catfish Dreams”! We HAD to go back last night. Just to make sure it was still the best catfish we have ever had….and it WAS!
We are still dreaming of catfish here in Victoria! And hushpuppies!
