Patience is invited to try the senbei

The Quimper Hittys were very honoured to receive a beautiful silk Hitty Kimono, and some Senbei from a Hitty friend in Japan.

Constance is also glad that the friend in Japan is so patient while her human tries to adjust it as accurately as possible.  There are many important aspects of wearing a Kimono properly that are hard for a non-Japanese person to see.

The gifts arrived just before Culture Day, which is celebrated in Japan on November 3rd. Constance was delighted to have an addition to her Japanese wardrobe, and another celebration to add to her calendar.

The Yuzu Senbei were made in a traditional way in Yakage Village, and Patience wants everyone to know how special and delicious they are!

  1. Constance is such a source of knowledge for the rest of us . And her international travels and friends are just
an inspiration. Especially for those of us who never venture far from the farm! That kimono is a work of art. All those folds and placements. Great story and photos.

    • Thank you! We also think the Kimono is beautiful, and we love to celebrate culture too. The Quimper Hitty Human works in a Museum when she is not following her dolls around with a camera!

    • Apparently traditional Senbei are cooked on a kind of griddle, whereas modern mass-produced ones are somehow done in an oven. I think they are pancakey! Yuzu is a kind of Japanese citrus fruit – really delicious flavouring! we have some ginger flavoured Senbei that we are saving for another special occasion!

  2. Perfect Kimonos. Quimper hittys need to take a trip to Japan and see some real Japanese cities and maybe visit Mount Fujiama – a dormant volcano with beautiful views.
