Purple Monk’s Belt
A friend has purchased a new little loom. Naturally Constance and her human are keen to help iron out the kinks!
.
.
It has a number of delightful features – despite having eight harnesses, it is very small, very quiet, and has a handy shelf for necessary weaving materials.
.
.
There is also a very useful pull-bar on the beater that helps with even packing of the wefts.
.
.
There is a clever hanging breast beam, which makes it easy to tension the warp…here the vertical bar holding up the beam is not in alignment with the upright loom bar, so the warp is too loose.
.
.
Here they are after tightening the ratchet – perfectly aligned means just right…
.
.
Hitty Constance finds weaving very meditative.
.
.
The dangling weft ends are a little tangled – this happened when we were weaving last year (click here to see!)
