Lucia Day 2014
Constance wishes all her friends a very Happy Lucia Day of 2014!
Natten går tunga fjät
rund gård och stuva;
kring jord, som sol förlät,
skuggorna ruva.
Då i vårt mörka hus,
stiger med tända ljus,
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.

Night walks with a heavy step
Round yard and hearth,
As the sun departs from earth,
Shadows are brooding.
There in our dark house,
Walking with lit candles,
Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia!
.

Constance is very brave! Happy Saint Lucia Day, Quimpers!!!
She is used to being Lucia – she is the oldest Hitty in the household!
She does look very proud! Another beautiful photograph.
Sweet!
Thank you!
A lovely picture! Thanks for sharing.
One of our favourite holidays – it means the beginning of Christmas for us!
Beautiful picture. Love the painting on the plate and the decorations. Constance looks very sweet.
The wooden plate was always in my mother’s kitchen…I think it was painted in Minnesota, the edges are done in a Swedish Folk-painting style like rosemaling. I am so glad it ended up with me – so is Constance.
Ahhh, then that makes the plate even more special!
Ahh one of my favorite Quimper HItty traditions…the Santa Lucia costume and lovely Constance being so graceful. Lovely photos and the translation was such a nice touch. Thank you. And Happy Holidays to our favorite Hitty family.
Thank you 🙂 we love the tradition, it is a much-needed dark-repelling activity!
Utterly lovely! Thank you!
Thanks very much, we are officially ready to start Christmas activities now (though Opal and Agathe have been wheedling for a good while already!)
Happy Lucia Day, hitties!
Thank you 🙂 They did have a happy day – with a little bit of sunshine and no storms – hooray!
YOU were very brave to let Constance carry the candles in such a way! But it is a lovely sight!
She wasn’t unattended even for a second, the camera was in one hand and the snuffer was in the other!
