Making the Bed
Opal and Agathe have been climbing around on the old wooden head and foot-boards, which are getting a new lease on life…
They clambered up to the top of one of the unfinished bed-posts…
…and tried balancing on a headboard…
.
.
…and after all that practice, they have become excellent tight-rope walkers!

What a wonderful way to exercise those little wooden limbs…and..what a marvelous quilt on that bed!
The girls certainly had a lot of fun during the bed-revival project! Thank you for your kind compliments about the quilt…I made it together with my mother-in-law. Half the fabrics were bought by her in Provence the 1960’s, and the other half by me and Constance in 2010. We each made strips of the right width and traded half to the other person, then made blocks in our respective homes. The QH’s favourite photographer arranged them in a pleasing design…we love the result!
Such a beautiful bed! And, the quilt is lovely, too! What fun the Hittys had climbing and balancing – pure delight! It looks like it was very satisfying for both the human and Hitty members of the family 🙂
The bed is beautiful, and if all goes well, this is an interim restoration finished just in time for a visitor arriving tomorrow. Some of the Hittys keep out of the way, but Agathe gets right in there like a dirty shirt, and Opal right behind her!
I suspect one reason they love the bed so much is that the fantabulous quilt is a super match with the clothing they are wearing! How fun!
You are right – I have been wanting to play hide and seek with the Hittys on the various quilts in the house…hm-m-m.
this delightful pair never ceases to delight us! Great pictures…love the girls doing their balancing act!!
They are a delight and full of glee, Opal especially. They are the kind of dolls that have adventures I would rather hear about after they are home and safe!!
Just found your message! The bed looks great. How nice that the structure is repaired after so long, and that the quilt is just right for its wooden surroundings
. love, g
We love the bed, and it is perfect in that room, with that wonderful quilt that we made together – you’ll have to come and see!
What a wonderful bed. The pioneer Hitty’s are now asking what it would take to get a bed like that in their size. They are also insisting on a nice warm quilt too. Apparently they are tired of sleeping in their make shift pallet. Thank you Quimper Hittys for showing them what they are missing out on.
We had wee quilts and coverlets galore before we got around to beds! Now we have many different wee beds, but still more Hittys than beds I am afraid. They don’t seem to mind.
