A Small Adventure 4
Our destination was Botanical Beach Provincial Park near Port Renfrew. The actual beach is a half-hour walk from the parking lot through the temperate rainforest on a smooth downhill trail.
…and on the way down the trail Opal and Agathe were excited to find this impressive member of the lily family blooming in a swamp…
…and they discovered why Skunk Cabbage got it’s name!
The pretty and solitary Trillium was much less overpowering, and further along the trail…
…both girls were seized with an strong desire to learn to play the violin.

.

The girls are definitely nature lovers. Why not, with such beauty all around them??
They sure did enjoy their little jaunt.
Ah, such beauty….some of these beauties await us in the near future in our own nearby sanctuary. Thanks for the natural creativity…and, alas, those poor woodens…having to endure the fragrance of that interesting plant that they encountered.
I hope your sanctuary is soon full of lovely plants and that you and your Hittys have a chance to admire them. And yes, that particular lily has a very singular version of loveliness!
I laughed over the fiddle head ferns inspiring the girls to become violinists!! All the photos are just grand. I have experience the aroma of the skunk cabbage and can empathize with the dears!! Great pictures.
I am not sure that either girl has the stick-to-it-iveness to become a violinist! They’d rather be off exploring another swamp or beach!
So glad that they recovered from their Skunk Cabbage swoons… perhaps Pan pipes made from the stems of rushes might suit their musical sensibilities? 🙂
Oh, good idea! Our favourite wooden instrument is driftwood storm marimba, though the Hittys kind of shudder in sympathy.
