Three “R’s”
It’s been a year since a state of emergency was declared here in BC – schools were closed for months, but classes did resume in September last year. The Quimper Hittys actually enjoy schoolwork, and though they prefer going to school, learning at home is good too!
.
.
Some of their home-learning tools are a bit old-fashioned…
.
.
…but they all learned to read…
.
.
…and write!
.
.
When they have perfected their pen-doll-ship, they will write poems and mottoes into Arianell’s Autograph Album!
.
.
Gracia took some time away from her shop to teach the girls some arithmetic…
.
.
…Tipsy took to calculation like a duck to water!
.
.
Then Gráinne taught them the basics of navigation…
.
.
…and they had a jolly time at recess in the slush!!

What a wonderful day of Homeschooling! It looks like everyone enjoyed themselves and learned all manner of useful things!
It was a wonderful day…the girls all agreed!
What a wonderful day… love the tiny Blabkboard & Abacus . Love your Hitty’s lives 😍
We love finding or making little things for the Quimper Hitty family, the abacus was one of our favourite discoveries!
What an interesting and fun school. I especially enjoyed Grainne’s navigation lesson .
Adorable as usual.
Gráinne is full of useful information, and always glad to get the rest of the Hitty family out in a boat!
Their school dresses are lovely, the teaching materials are eternal and low-tech (who needs a good internet connection?), and I’m glad to see they’re encouraged to take part in exciting field trips to put their new knowledge to practical use.
I agree that putting the knowledge to actual use is the very best way to make the information to stick! They learned about celestial navigation too, but I am a little reluctant to let them out to practice at night!
Schooling that includes the out of doors is fantastic. Loved seeing the little gals busy exercising their fibers in a variety of ways.
I agree that out of doors is a wonderful learning environment! So many things to learn about and watch and experience!
My goodness the girls are well equipped with teaching tools. I did so enjoy seeing the wee hornbook! In fact I enjoyed every setting and scene.
That hornbook was fun to make – it was one of my favourite tiny projects!
