Opal and Agathe came on a weekend expedition to Mayne Island, where the weather was wet and the atmosphere autumnal.
Mossy Wall
The rain is very welcome in the dry and thirsty forest. The moss is green again and the water dripping down the rocky cliff.
Succulent Wall
This cliff was crumbly but the plants are also enjoying the trickle.
Midden Wall
The girls are gazing at the remains of an ancient village, eroding out of this bank.
Sandstone Vugs

Sandstone vugs! Glad it was wet enough to wear raincoats….what a reprieve for flora, fauna and those who admire it.
We are glad of the rain! Everything freshens up, and the fire Hazard goes down from extreme to moderate – a few more days of rain and it could be low!
Thank goodness for the sweet rains of Autumn! I had never heard the word, ‘vug’ before. Such a funny little word for such a magical phenomenon. It looks like your adventure on Mayne Island was a delight. Thank you again for all the whimsy and pleasure that your postings bring!
We all love vugs and the sandstone on Mayne Island seems to have lots of them!

I think that old saying was actually “snug as a bug in a vug”. We think vugs are marvellous!
Those block sisters sure do get around to a lot of nice places!
