Haida Gwaii Goodbye (for now)
Tansy has been to Haida Gwaii, three times this year – she’s been involved in a lot of interesting work and seen remote and beautiful parts of British Columbia.
She found interesting things in the forest…
…and on the beach.
She went on boat rides every day!
…and visited far away islands.
Tansy tried to help her photographer/Archaeologist friend with some of the work,
and shared his dinners!
Haida Gwaii is one of the most tranquil places Tansy has ever visited,
…and there are lots of people busy trying to understand and protect its natural and cultural Heritage.
…respecting old traditions while making room for new ways of living lightly on the land. The Haida Nation and Parks Canada made an outstanding video about this pole.
Please watch the video embedded below:
Tansy feels so lucky to be part of this world.

Thank you, Tansy, for sharing this beautiful part of the world with us and enlightening us with some of the wonder of it.
Tansy says you are welcome – and today she has flown off to another adventure!
Thank you thank you for this incredibly beautiful post. I was so moved by the video! I am going to share the video on facebook, as it is one that should be seen by as many people as possible! Thank you…..
I agree about the video – so much is conveyed in such a beautiful little package…
Fabulous video. Tansy is so privileged to have been to Haida Gwaii with her photographer, and we readers are very lucky to be able to see the island through her eyes!
She is so grateful for the opportunity! And glad to share… 🙂
Tansy is terrific company on trips, and this was an especially good trip with great weather and people to work with. The Windy Bay visit was a highlight – the pole is terrific, and the Watchmen based there made us a wonderful meal. One of the guys I was working with is a carver and he told Tansy and me about the pole and some of its stories and references to the past.
You are both so lucky, thanks for making it possible for us to share in the wonder a tiny bit!
can only repeat the “thank you” for sharing the adventures of Tansy and her photographer. The video is beautiful, we can only hope and pray that this beautiful wilderness can be protected forever.
We do so hope and pray (and also vote for the people we think will support this)!
another learning experience with the Quimper Hittys. Looking forward to this most recent Tansy Adventure with her favorite photographer.
Tansy left today for an adventure with another friend….she’ll be having fun in the orient until November!
