Honey Spas 2016
Because it is August 14th today, Carrot Soup is getting dressed in the Quimper Hitty’s traditional Ukrainian finery (which was made for Tansy two years ago when she went to visit our Ukrainian Hitty friend in Winnipeg).
It is believed that today the bees stop collecting nectar, roses stop blooming, the swallows start their migration south and the dew on the grass becomes cold. This celebration marks the beginning of the end of summer. Honey Spas is celebrated in Russia and Ukraine.
Happy Honey Spas, and blessings on the honey. We hope people everywhere are able to celebrate a joyful and abundant honey harvest…
…and do everything they can to make the world a better place for bees!

Can’t take my eyes off of that wonderful dress and headpiece with those intricate little beads and ribbons. Beautiful. Love it. I hadn’t heard of “Honey Spas” celebration day but it’s lovely. Wish our “dew “would catch onto that day…yesterday on our porch (in the shade) the thermometer registered 110 degrees. Come on cool weather!!!!
We love the outfit too! I believe it was a collaboration of two and possibly three generations of Ukrainian-Canadians, who loved Tansy and her spirit of adventure…click here to see the post with Tansy dressed in this outfit for Ukrainian Easter.
Beautiful. You never cease to amaze and delight!
Carrot Soup loved getting the chance to dress in this special outfit and celebrate the Honey Spas (Tansy is still dressed in her field gear!)
The world is a better place for bees (and humans!) thanks to the care of the Quimper Hittys!
We love to find things to celebrate!
lovely! We try to do our part for the pollinators with flowers and shrubs. Wonderful to see this costume again.
Thanks! We were happy to get the outfit into the light of day again, and we think Carrot Soup looks great in it!
