Expansion
Mormor’s waist has expanded since she was a sweet young thing…
.
.
.
.
…the button on her favourite hand woven skirt can’t be moved any further over!
.
.
Luckily Mormor is a dab hand with scissors and needle…
.
.
…and a new waistband was easily made…
.
.
Mormor’s best skirt is comfortable again, and she is ready for the festive season.

I believe some of us can sympathize with Mormor and her waist issue! Happy that she was able to resolve the issue so handily! that is a lovely skirt.
I do believe you might be right about the expansion issue…the skirt fits just right now, and she used the same pretty button – yay!
So glad she had the skills to make her favourite skirt fit. Her shawl is stunning! Love the pretty leaf pattern.
We are glad too! The shawl is the “Lonely Tree” a free pattern on ravelry – the Quimper Hittys make it a lot, but this green one is special as it is hand-spun silk from a friend!
Sounds familiar….but what a beautifully re-arranged skirt she now has. Yeah for needle and thread!
Yes! I think we could learn to go beyond “Make do and Mend”, but then I spent 30+ years in the textile conservation business, so I have seen the value in a well-made garment made from good cloth!!
That was some kind of magic with the waist band, And the hand was quicker than the camera!
Luckily a waistband expansion is very easy when there is a lot of cloth to begin with! We are happy with the result – especially Mormor!
