Hedgepig Autumn Garden
Today is the first day of Autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere. Constance walked out to the back garden, where things are slightly overgrown after almost two weeks of avoiding strenuous activities…
…she picked some clover – the bees are glad that we haven’t mown the lawn for a while.
.
.
To carry them more easily, she knotted the stems together – this look was a little outré…
.
.
…but it works well as a necklace.
.
.
Some of the transplanted flowers, like the Alpine Campanula, have decided to put out blooms even this late in the season!!
.
.
These Chrysanthemums are making little buds – she wondered whether they will have time to bloom…the days are not as warm, and the nights are damp and cool.
.
.
Someone has collected a pile of pine cones…
.
.
…for camouflage!
.
.
Constance had the feeling she was being followed…
.
.
…and she decided to go back indoors so as not to bother the hedgepigs…
.
.
…but tiptoed back…
.
.
….to pour them a dish of cream.
.
.
The Hedgepigs were very happy (though cream is not recommended as a steady diet for them).
.
.
Constance was happy too!
Happy first day of Autumn to our friends North of the equator, and happy spring to our friends in the Southern hemisphere!
The hedgepigs are just adorable! Happy Autumn to the Quimpers!
We love the hedgepigs – two of them were a gift from a Hitty friend – they squeaked in delight at being the stars of the blog today (they think)! Happy Autumn to you as well!
What a wonderful adventure! I am in love with your Hedgepigs! they are delightful 🙂 I am so happy that you are able to go outside again. I hope that the fires will soon be put out, and that the people who are at the other end of the spectrum with flooding will soon be safe and well again, too!
A large, cool wet storm is forecast for the rest of the week – we are not inclined to complain about it, and we also sincerely hope it will help dampen the embers. We seem to have quite a large family of hedgepigs in the Hitty garden, and we love it when they come out to play!
I loved this adventure also. The Hedgepigs are adorable and Constance is a wonderful guide through the garden.
Thanks very much – we are happy with the garden – humans, Hittys and hedgepigs and all!
Constance does know how to enjoy a day! The Hedge pigs are darling and who knew they loved cream??
I really enjoyed them following her along the fence! And that one leaning on the shovel!! Adorable!
It was a truly enjoyable day – a stroll in the clover meadow, a tramp through the garden, and a glimpse of the local wildlife…Constance feels so lucky!
oops, forgot to compliment Constance on her beautiful wrap!!
Rose has been a busy Hitty, and thought this lovely yarn would make such a beautiful shawl…Constance’s favourite autumnal colours!
