June Veg
The peas are growing vigorously…
.
.
…so are the leeks, carrots, lettuce and beets…
.
.
…and the gooseberry bushes. Unfortunately it was too cold and windy for the bees when the gooseberry flowered so we will not have a crop this year, drat!
.
.
The Croatian Chard (Blytva) was just sown. It was too cold for the seeds until a few days ago. We have hopes of this plant, the woman who gave us the seeds says it is the best-tasting chard she’s ever eaten!
.
.
The Good King Henry is thriving…
.
.
…and this is already our third harvest…
.
.
…we’ve made pie and minestrone with Good King Henry – today we are going to try Lasagne.

Perdita, it is a joy to see you amongst the proliferating vegetation in your garden on Quimper Street! What culinary delights you must be enjoying. It’s so satisfying when it’s your own produce, isn’t it?
It is so very satisfying to have delicious fruits and veg from the garden – Lettuce is so sweet, and the Good King Henry so crisp and fresh – we are glad to be able to grow stuff here!
ahhh what a beautiful garden…and the bounty to come! Love seeing Perdita among her plants.
It is very delightful to have Perdita’s willing company in the garden (and the lasagne was delicious)!
