Knitting Hempathy 2
At long last the Hempathy Shirt was ready to come off the needles…
.
.
…and then all that was left…
.
.
…was to darn in the yarn ends (of which there are several).
.
.
Fortunately Floradora is a willing helper and the job got done pretty quickly…
.
.
…actually there is one more step – it needs to be blocked out, but then it will be wearable. I have already tried it on and I know it fits – hooray! And best of all from Floradora’s point of view is that there are scraps! I had better get knitting and see if I can whip up a little sweater for Floradora in time for Scrap Happy day on the 15th?!

Click here for the pattern, but note there may be a mistake in the pattern which I have alerted the designer about, and adjusted in my knitting. I also did not include a 20 cm ease, and lengthened the body and sleeves by two inches in each case, to accommodate my longer torso and arms. Luckily I accounted for those adjustments when I chose the pattern size and bought an extra ball of yarn, which I did use about half of!

Your newly knitted sweater looks lovely and well done. Enjoy wearing it! And a pat on the head to Floradora for helping out.
I am pleased with the sweater and Floradora was keen to help me get it done! I will enjoy wearing it – starting tomorrow!
Just gorgeous! Love everything about it!!
Thanks very much – I love it too!
Just beautiful! Congratulations!
It was a fun project, and I am glad I got it done while there is still some summer left to wear it in!
what a lovely sweater top and how marvelous that Floradora will benefit from the scraps. It really is a perfect color for her…and for you!!
She does look good in that colour – and I will enjoy it too…busy knitting up the scraps…
Is it soft and supple, or firm? I think it must be, if you’re going to wear it, but I always envisage hemp yarn as being rather like hemp rope in texture, a bit coarse and prickly! It’s difficult to get an idea of the ‘hand’ from the photos.
It is quite soft and drapey, the yarn is 41% cotton, 34% hemp and 25% modal (nylon). If you click on the pattern link you will see a model wearing the tshirt drapily. The yarn on that model is about the same mixture of cotton and nylon, but with linen rather than hemp.
Beautiful knitting… I loved too. And you know, your photographs are so beautiful too. You create an art in art, Thank you, Love, nia
Thank you so much! I like the shirt very much, and I enjoyed photographing it.
