Fog in the Fall

Fog

On a foggy afternoon, the leaves on the Dogwood tree are turning colour…

.

.

Spindle Burning Bush

…but the Burning bush is already aflame, with bright red leaves, little orange berries…

.

.

Hummingbird

…and a little hummingbird perching on a twig!

.

.

rose thicket

The Roses are all finished blooming…

.

.

Rose Hips

…but look at the rosehips – these will be beautiful all fall and into the winter!

.

.

Snowberries

The Snowberries are also plump and abundant!

.

.

Apples

Our apple tree didn’t produce any fruit this year but the neighbour’s tree is quite fruitful this year!!

.

.

Mountain Ash

Floradora loves Mountain Ash berries – they look like small Hitty-sized apples!

.

.

Wondering

Floradora heard that Hedgehogs can carry apples on their backs!?

.

.

Hedgehog

Maybe in fiction, but not for real…

.

.

Apple

…but Floradora likes to pretend sometimes!

  1. Dear Floradora
Thank you for sharing your beautiful surroundings again. The Rowan berries are particularly lovely and a special treat this year. We have many rowan trees in our hedgerows here, but there have been few berries this year, which is sad for the wild birds and our Hu-Man who loves rowan jelly with ham or cheese sandwiches!
Your sweater is a fabulous colour too, perfect for chilly autumn days.
    Much love,
    Mary and Roberta xxxx

  2. Isn’t it great to receive these beautiful autumn gifts of berries, fruits, colorful leaves, nuts? Floradora has highlighted this abundance clearly today. And, I love that red gate!! Just this morning I was looking out a window here and admiring our own same gate. I must get it painted red though…that would be the bee’s knees for sure to do so.

    • It is a really beautiful time of year – we love the greens transforming into golds and oranges, red and brown. We repaint the garden gate every few years…we are trying to keep it going after more than 50 years.
