Two Candles
If you are Finnish or of Finnish ancestry, you might put two candles in the window today…
.
.
…on December 6th, we light two candles and place them in the window, to show that people would find a safe haven in this house during times of oppression…Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää. May many candles be lit tonight, all over the world.

Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää! 🙂
Kiitos ❤
And, may peace prevail!
It May, though it is a disheartening moment…
Lovely and heartening. Becky J
Looking back in remembrance and looking forward in hope at the same time…
the world needs all the peace we can create, wish lighting candles would make it happen.
yes…
And unto your light, nations shall walk, and kings unto the brightness of your rising” Isaiah 60:3
Candles and Christmas lights help so much in the cold dark winters of the Northern hemisphere…and hope.
“Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää.”
So beautiful and so meaningful too. Thank you dear Hitty Lady, Love, nia
Thank you – and love to you in this dark time…
That is a lovely idea! I read the post on the 6th and put 2 candles in my window too. I don’t suppose any of my neighbours saw or took note let alone understood what they were for but I enjoyed them.
Adding a little generosity and light to the gloom is always a good thing!
Gloom describes the weather here let alone the state of the world. I seem to need a lot of candles!
Yes – me too… sending ❤ from us to you
what a wonderful tradition and sentiment….havens are certainly needed in these trying times. Thank you for this thoughtful post.
We like this quiet celebration…it’s flavour of insistent generosity and hopefulness.
