Cardigans, Washcloths And Raspberries

Two little cardigans

The cotton and linen “Shimmer Shawl” turned out really well!  After that project, some of the leftover linen yarns went into a couple of bulky little Hitty cardigans…

buttons

…Floradora picked through the leftover buttons.

.

Washcloth

The leftover cotton yarns from the shawl made up into two little washcloths…

A little gift

…I made little packets to give to a couple of friends, with a lavender scented soap and a lavender coloured washcloth. There was enough of the cotton yarn to tie up the gifts.

bulky

The very last shreds of cotton yarn went outside with Floradora on a brisk spring day…

tie

…and she helped me to tie up some raspberry canes.

Jute

There was enough cotton for four ties – we used purple jute for the rest…

Satisfaction

…both are strong enough to train the raspberry canes to the wire, but will decompose over time.

hope

We love this view of the raspberry patch – so hopeful, and satisfying!

I’m glad we go that pruning job done when we did, the weather has gone all soggy again!

  1. You’ve brought us shimmery, pruning, anticipating upcoming fruit, little dolls, Hitty sized cardigans and to top it off, pretty purple string to enhance raspberry growth. My goodness, what a full “kitchen sink” of lovely household tasks you’ve adorned today’s post with. It’s all cozy and sweet except for the possible thorns on the canes. Becky J

  2. Floradora looks so spritely in her lovely blue sweater. The raspberry vines are the epitome of tidy gardening. The Quimper Human and her helpers are very efficient!! and talented!

  3. Oh, they look beautifully cosy! I do love a home made face cloth, they’re wonderfully scrubby, but soft at the same time. I tend to crochet a few at a time to replace the worn out ones, but up to now I’ve used a finer yarn. I should think about something thicker, maybe…

    • This was quite thick cotton blend yarn, at “Aran Weight”. I thought it would work up nicely! My friends have both exclaimed about the gift, but alas they probably wouldn’t say if they didn’t like it, and I don’t have any more of that weight of cotton, and i don’t want to go out and buy some…on the other hand I do have a bit of help….
